GNU/Linux Command – NOTIFY-SEND

notify-send – Send desktop notifications

Summary:

With notify-send, we can sends desktop notifications to the user via a notification daemon from the command line. These notifications can be used to inform the user about an event or display some form of information without getting in the user’s way.

Example:

$ notify-send Hello -- Show notification box with message hello. $ notify-send Hello "Hi Bharathi" -- Show summay and body messages. $ notify-send -u low Hello -- Show message with urgency level(low, normal, critical). $ notify-send -t 6000 Hello -- Show the message for 6sec. $ notify-send -i tux.png Hello -- Show the message with an image.
