GNU/Linux Command – PIDOF

pidof — Find the Process ID of a running program
 
Summary:
Pidof finds the process id’s (pids) of the named programs and display pids.
 
Example:
$ pidof login -- List the PID of all login processes.  $ pidof login mingetty -- List all login getty processes PIDs. $ pidof -s login -- Show PID of the process, which match 1st.  $ pidof -o 1000 login -- Omit the process with PID 1000.  $ pidof -o %PPID -- -bash -- Show PID of bash and omit PPID.  $ pidof -x myscript.sh -- Find what shell is running myscript.sh
