powertop — Power consumption analyser for Intel-based system

Summary:

powertop is a CLI tool. It analyse and shows the power consumption on Intel-based systems. It is very useful on laptops to find, which application is waking the CPU very frequently and leeds maximum power consumption. Using this information, we can do some optimization to to extend battery life‐time. PowerTop also show some random tips on every screen refreash.

Examples:
$ powertop -- Show only CPU states. # powertop -- Show CPU states and Application activities forevery 5sec. # powertop -d -- Just take statistics for 15sec, dump it on thescreen and exit.
